There’s Google Earth, but that’s just earth, and it’s just today! Here are some amazing apps that are fantastic for getting more perspective on our place in the universe and its history. I’ll have more to say about each of these in later posts dedicated to each one separately.

Earthviewer from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute is an amazing app that lets you scroll through TIME in the history of the earth:


Macrocosm and Microcosm from Online Science Classroom let you scroll to various points in the upward and downward orders of scale, respectively:


And for really little kids, Tick Bait’s Universe from You University Apps is more-or-less the same thing, only with much more fun pictures:


Finally, ExoPlanet from Hanno Rein lets you scroll all the way out to the edge of the visible universe, as well as exploring all the known exoplanets and their (known) solar systems:
